Festival Fever

I for one absolutely love this time of year! It's great - it starts still being light when I finish work in an evening, the sun starts shining (this past week we've had quite a lot!), buds start sprouting on the various trees and bushes, and best of all - festival line-ups start being announced!

I am currently over the moon at the abundance of totally awesome events that are happening this summer, and I really wish that I was a rich bum with no job who could just go from one festival to another to another... and so on ad infinitum!

So what is it that has gotten me all worked up this morning? Well, that would be the Parklife festival! Last year I wanted to go to this, but unfortunately the people that I was relying on didn't get the funds together for their tickets in time, and it sold out. However this year I will be there with bells on, particularly after seeing the line-up announcement this morning!! There are so many good acts on there that I don't even know where to start - however I will try my best! :-D

Sub Focus, Hercules and Love Affair, Fake Blood, Jamie XX, Beardyman, Annie Mac, High Contrast, Breakage, London Elektricity, Shy FX, Netsky, Camo and Krooked, Chase and Status, DJ Shadow, Erol Alkan, Tensnake, James Zabiela, Grandmaster Flash, DJ Hype, Friction, Loadstar, Danny Byrd, Fresh b2b Brookes Brothers.... and many many many more!

So many of my favourite electronic dance music acts, that I will be in heaven! Plus, this festival is just one weekend out of the action packed summer that is coming up - the anticipation is already building, and I strongly believe that it is going to be a great one!

One of my favourite tunes of the last 24 hours is actually a Loadstar remix of a Breakage tune, featuring Jess Mills (not to be confused with the techno legend Jeff Mills - she's far prettier for one thing, with the voice of an angel!) - I've played this track about 5 times in the past 24 hours!!

I saw Breakage last year, and was very impressed - am definitely looking forward to catching them at Parklife though! Although as usual I suspect there will be the usual dilemma of who to watch at what time, as with such an awesome line up there is bound to be more than a few clashes of act that I want to see!

This track is off Chase and Status's latest album No Idol's which was released in the last few weeks. This is an awesome track, and has been on my playlist a lot since I first heard it! It was also played quite a few times at the recent Hospitality Leeds event that I went to - it's definitely a keeper, and after seeing them a few times now I can confirm that Chase and Status live are very impressive - hopefully they will play this at Parklife, but whatever they play I am sure that it will be awesome.

Lastly for you today, I have two mixes from Soundcloud for you to enjoy.

The first is from one of my friends Marc Wilkie, and it's a gorgeous summery tech house delight. I've been giving this a listen this morning, and think it would be perfect for those warm summer nights, sitting outdoors with friends watching the sun go down. Enjoy, and if you like it, please share it! Click here to go to the mix.

The last treat I have for you is an hour long absolutely gorgeous mix that Hercules and Love Affair have done for the moshi moshi website. This particular piece of aural loveliness has been on repeat since I came across it yesterday, and I can't wait to see these guys at the Faversham on Friday, and also at the Parklife festival in June! With this music they are really spoiling us!! Click here to listen to this mix - no download link for this one unfortunately, but at least we can stream it which is something to be thankful for!

I hope that you enjoy today's musical treats, and if you do then please share this blog with your friends - it's all about sharing the musical love! :)
