A Taste of the Erotic

I think by now, it is pretty clear that I have quite a strong belief in the power of music – the right music at the right time can make you feel any emotion, from happy to sad, reflective to inspired. One are that I haven’t touched upon so far is the power of music to seduce and arouse, to get under your skin and make you feel alive and in love – or lust – whether that be for a moment or a lifetime.

So here to thoroughly distract you on this Friday afternoon, I have found a few tracks for you that will hopefully get under your skin, and give you a taste of the erotic.

The first track I have for you is one that has always gotten under my skin, there is just something about it that is quite dark and dirty, and it has quite a slow throbbing beat to it that definitely inspires impure thoughts. 

This next track is perhaps the most disturbing and arousing of the few that I have found for you. This track is quite old now, and was first played in this country at an illegal rave on the outskirts of London approx 20 years ago by Rob Tissera. In an interview years later, he said that he dropped the track for the first time, and no one had heard anything like it before – bear in mind that this is at the height of the rave culture. Within moments, the whole party had turned into a mass orgy with all these loved up people in a field getting it on! It sounds like a hell of a night. (Read “Last night a DJ saved my life” for the whole story – this book is essential reading anyway for any lovers of electronic music, and this story is just a bonus).

Next up we have a little light relief for you, to perhaps ease the tension of the last two tracks. This is Tenacious D again, with one of my favourite tongue in cheek tracks of theirs – Fuck her gently. This is great, and the video always makes me laugh as well.

Now it’s time to up the tempo a little bit, with a classic track from Missy Elliott – this is Work It, and it needs no further introduction except to say that I think it is great to see women in touch with their sexuality and desires, and willing to shout out to the world about it.

This next one is another hip hop classic, the whole track is pretty explicit in the message it conveys, and just makes you want to bump and grind – and of course, put your back in to it!

I’m slowing things down again for the last couple of tracks of today, and the title of this next track pretty much speaks for itself. This is another tune that has that gorgeously erotic slow pounding beat to it, and would be perfect backing music for a naughty evening in! This is Portishead, and I just love this track.

This last track has everything – it’s a great pounding bass heavy house track, with that gorgeously erotic slow tempo, it has a throbbing powerful beat to it, breathy French vocals, and a wonderfully dark and dirty feel. Just what you need to get you in the mood!
