Remixed, Revamped, R3configur3d!

Over recent years, it has become more apparent that we live in a world where artists are perpetually sampling and remixing the work of other artists, and while at times it can be rather depressing to hear lacklustre versions of tracks that you absolutely love, occasionally we come across moments of true genius.

Now personally, I am not against remixing as a general rule, as I think it is definitely true that the final version can be greater than the sum of its parts - the musical talents of different artists coming together on one track can combine in really innovative ways to create absolute masterpieces. Last night, I stumbled across Tron R2configur3d! - which is basically a remix album  about to be released by Disney, containing new remixes of the Daft Punk tracks from the Tron Legacy soundtrack.

I shared the crystal method track with you on last night's blog update, but since I got to work this morning I have been checking out the rest of the album and I have to say I'm impressed! Some of the tracks are a bit hit and miss, but those that hit more than make up for the ones I'm not so sure about! I've included the tracklist below, just so you can see for yourself the musical legends that were signed up to remix these tracks - that were all pretty much epic to start with - and I've linked you to a couple of the ones that I really like! Enjoy these pure electronic beats! Simply gorgeous!!!

Tracklist:

01 The Glitch Mob: “Derezzed”
02 M83 vs. Big Black Delta: “Fall”
03 The Crystal Method: “The Grid/Game Has Changed”
04 Teddybears: “Adagio for Tron”
05 Ki:Theory: “The Son of Flynn”
06 Paul Oakenfold: “C.L.U.”
07 Moby: “The Son of Flynn”
08 Boys Noize: “End of Line (Boys Noize Remix)”
09 Kaskade: “Rinzler”
10 Com Truise: “Enron Part II”
11 Photek: “End of Line”
12 The Japanese Popstars: “Arena”
13 Avicii: “Derezzed”
14 Pretty Lights: “Solar Sailor”
15 Sander Kleinenberg: “Tron Legacy (End Titles)”

First up for your listening pleasure, we have the Photek remix of End of Line - great stuff!! Photek is one of the original Drum and Bass legends, however recently he has been turning his immense production skills to different sounds, and I am enjoying everything I hear at the moment. I am getting more and more excited about seeing him at Hospitality Leeds with each passing day!

This next one is track 12 off the album, and is a remix by The Japanese Popstars - I love the sound of this, really enjoyable electronic beats. Wonderful!

Also, this song is a remix of track 7 by Goose that didn't actually make it on to the album, but which I prefer to Moby's version of this track! (Thanks to Katie for finding this one!) Click here to listen!

Right, now I've let the geek in me run riot for a little bit, it's time to enjoy some of the new Drum and Bass beats that I tracked down last night. These tracks, and a few others I'm saving for now, kept me up for hours last night!

This track from Seba and Paradox is available to pre-order on Juno, there is a link in the description of the track - I love it, it's got a great summery feel to it, it's just absolutely perfect when the sun is cracking the flags like it is today!

This track is really nice liquid DnB, and luckily for us, it is available as a free download rather than us having to purchase it! The link for it is in the description of the track on YouTube - this is superb, and has been listened to a few times since I first found it! Enjoy!

I love Drumsound and Bassline Smith, and this tune is fantastic as well. This is available to pre-order on itunes at the moment. I like the way the tempo changes through this track, and it feels to me like it has a bit of attitude to it as well.

This track by Delision is to be released by BLA Black on the 20th of April, and it has a really nice chilled out vibe. I love the use of the vocal in it!

This is the last track of the day, unless I end up finding inspiration in the middle of the night again haha! This isn't Drum and Bass, it is dirty though - I love this track, it's a proper booty shaker of an electro tune!
