The Mist!!

Music fills the infinite between two souls. This has been muffled by the mist of our daily habits.

This morning I was looking for an interesting quote to use as my blog title, that would reflect the miserable misty weather that we woke up to this morning - I wasn't able to find such a quote (hence the uninspiring title of today's blog update). However I did find the above music related quote, which touched my soul in strange and inspiring ways. This is a quote from Rabindranath Tagore, an Indian poet who died in 1941, and I feel that it is a statement that rings true for a lot of people I know - they are unable to find the beauty and life in music, or share this passion with others, because their lives are so cluttered with routine. To them, it is just a background noise, without soul, or meaning, and it doesn't enhance their lives in the way that it does for so many of us music lovers.

In my eyes, their lives are poorer for this, and it is for this reason that I ensure music is as much a part of my daily routine as work, or meals. Music sustains me, it keeps me happy and feeling positive, and reminds me that regardless of whatever else might be going on in this fucked up world (and we only need to look at places like Haiti, Japan, most of Africa and the Middle East to see examples of this) there is still beauty to be found in our daily lives.

So today, I am bringing you a collection of beautiful music to clear the mists of routine from your mind - and if you can appreciate it, then share it with another soul; who knows what might happen! :)

This is a great track, very moving, and I absolutely love the way that the tension and passion of it builds throughout. I was lucky enough to see this performed by Ludovico Einaudi in November at a solo piano recital, and I was blown away by the power of it.

This track is especially gorgeous, and I think that Katy B has an incredible voice. This is a live version of Perfect Stranger, taken from the session that she did with Magnetic Man at the Radio 1 Maida Vale Studio's, along with full string support. This blows me away every time I hear it.

The vocal in this next track gets me every time, and as only 500 copies of the vinyl were pressed, it is a tune that hasn't been overplayed in the clubs amazingly. La Roux's voice gives me shivers, and I have to turn this up every time I hear it - and it has the best drop of any tune I've heard in ages! When it kicks back in after the moments silence on a big soundsystem, it is simply awe-inspiring! Love it! :)

This is a really moving version of Gravity by John Mayer - what an amazing voice, and what skill with the guitar. Truly beautiful.

This is a really gorgeous chilled out Drum and Bass track by Calibre, called Don't want your love - this gave me goosebumps when I first heard it.

This last track of today is another gorgeous Drum and Bass track, and is a Bachelors of Science remix of Brothers on a Hotel Bed, by Death Cab for Cutie. It's a really well produced, melodic track, with lovely use of vocals in it, and again this is another that really struck me when I first heard it. Simply gorgeous!

I hope that you can appreciate the beauty in the tracks that I have played, however I would be intrigued to hear your suggestions for tracks that could have been included in this blog, and I will do a follow up post in the future including some of the best ones that I receive.
