You're in for some real delights today!
First up, we have Sam Townend's classic speed garage set that was played on the Saturday afternoon of Tidy Weekender - this was already mentioned last week as being one of the highlights of the weekend, and lucky for us, they were clever enough to record the set! Click here to listen and download this set! It's great, it immediately transports me back a few years to when I loved dancing around to speed garage with all of my friends when the sun was blazing - that was a fantastic summer, and these are fantastic tunes. Enjoy!
Here to get you in the mood is one of the tracks from this mix, this is the Sol Brothers Vocal mix of "Gypsy Boy Gypsy Girl" by the Sharada House Gang - this one had everyone's hands in the air during Sam's set!
Next up, we have a treat from Rob Booth's Electronic Explorations podcast - this week, his guest mix is from ASC, who was also featured on my blog a few weeks ago. This is electronic loveliness at its best, just gorgeous - prior to the guest mix from ASC, this mix also features a number of gorgeous tracks from Boddika amongst others. Enjoy - and if this is the kind of thing that floats your boat, I strongly recommend listening to the rest of the Electronic Explorations mixes.
Click here to check out the ASC podcast - the ASC guestmix starts at about 42mins. Also, click here to check out the previous blog entry to feature ASC.
One of the tracks from the first part of this podcast that I absolutely love is Gran Prix by Boddika - this is some really nice techno! Check this track out here.
Next up, we have yet another techno treat for you - this is another classic from the early 90's, and was dropped by CJ Bolland on Saturday night. The whole place went wild when this kicked in, it was just incredible!
For the rest of today, I have got some gorgeous B Complex tracks for you, as I have been discovering some of his older tracks, and boy are there some crackers in there! Hopefully these are tracks that you might not be as familiar with, but whether you are already or not, I hope you enjoy them either way. :)
First up, this has to be a very strong contender for my favourite B Complex track, narrowly pipping Redemption to the post. This is Solitude, and since I first found this track a few days ago, it has been played more than anything else I've listened to since - it is a gorgeous ambient, intelligent track, that makes great use of the vocal. This is simply delicious, and made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end the first time I heard it.
Next up, we have another complex track from B Complex (the more I listen, the more I am see just how fitting the name is in this instancE!). This starts off quite ambient, with a nice chilled out intro, there is clever use of vocals and a wide range of instruments and sounds that are used to good effect, particularly the piano! Overall the track is quite hectic, it has a good energy, and a nice dark vibe to it. I love it, this is just fantastic! This is Black Eternity.
The next treat I have for you is another absolutely gorgeous drum and bass track, that makes full use of the piano again; as with all of his tracks, this has so many layers to it, and can't do anything but make you smile and want to dance! This has such a nice feel to it, it's really atmospheric - this is Ocean Deep.
Time to slow it down a bit for this next track, which has a great dark feel to it, and a much slower tempo! As with all of his tracks, it still feels really epic even though it's much slower, and it still has the complexity that I've come to love in his music! This is Divided by Zero.
The last track of the day was really hard to choose, as there are so many great contenders - however it just means there are even more tracks I can bring you another day! This is Sober yet Overdosed.
Finally, last comment for today is if like me you enjoy B Complex, make sure you get yourself to one of the upcoming Hospitality Drum and Bass events at which he is playing. Click here to see the full line up for the Leeds event, and to buy tickets.
