Something kinda beautiful...

I left my hard drive full of music at a friends this weekend, so I have been relying on youtube this week for my listening pleasure. In fact, this week has been a bit disastrous all round, seeing as I didn't end up making it to York on Monday for Beardyman. Watch this space though, as there are plans to mission down to Bristol for Battlejam, which is the monthly night that Beardyman does with his friends.

One of the joys of online resources such as YouTube, Spotify, Last.fm etc, is the sheer randomness that it can inspire. If you only rely on your own music collection, it is quite easy for you to fall in to the habit of listening to the same stuff over and over again. At times it can also mean that you miss the hidden gems in your collection, out of the habit of revisiting current faves so often.

So here are some of the tracks that I have been listening to today.... I won't say much about them, as I find that they all speak for themselves in many ways!

This is an absolutely beautiful track, the more I listen to it the more I love it!

You can't go wrong with classic Green Day - to date, I have never had a mosh pit experience like when I saw these guys! What a voice! This is an incredible version of a track that I love, and that has slightly less energy to it than their usual performances! Awesome :)

This is yet another gorgeous track, and one that I want playing at my funeral. I was angry a few years ago at how many terrible dance versions of this track had been remixed, but at the end of the day, it just shows that it is a great song, with a fantastic, haunting vocal.

Finally, this is a beautiful dnb track, that I first heard on the Hospital Records podcast in spring last year I think, and that was released on Hospital Records "This is Drum & Bass 2010" compilation. This is a really nice track, I love the vocal, and the driving energy of the tune, and suspect that I will love listening to this track for a long time to come!
